If your physician has recommended radiofrequency ablation with NIMBUS®, here's what the procedure involves, what to expect afterward, and how other patients describe their experience.
Radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive procedure using a heat lesion to interrupt pain signals traveling to the brain.
Your physician will confirm your diagnosis and determine if RFA is appropriate for you, as well as review allergies, medical history, and any medications or supplements you take.
You lie on your stomach or back on an x-ray table and your physician numbs the treatment area. Using x-ray guidance, they place NIMBUS, insert an RF probe, and test. Then, an RF current is activated through NIMBUS to heat lesion the nerve and interrupt the pain signal to the brain.
Most patients go home the same day and resume regular activities the next day, following their physician’s instructions on activity, diet, and medications.
NIMBUS utilizes tines to expand the lesion size and shape inside the tissue with the goal of more reliable, longer-lasting relief.
Only your physician can determine whether radiofrequency ablation is right for you. Bring these questions to your next appointment.
